The stark loneliness of life.
An illusion of ‘togetherness’ thinly veils our minds,
A willing lie held to for cover.
Yet from time to time a breeze of truth chills the soul.
The stark loneliness of life.
Mother, father, wife, husband, child, turn away,
Call you a burden,
A task to be performed
Or….they leave or die.
Silent breeze reminds us of this crashing truth-
We are each one, truly alone in this world.
The heart we once took repose in,
The hand once touched- now gone,
Words of finality- he’s gone, its over, I hate you.
The door shuts….a low sobbing cry is muffled…
The stark loneliness of life.
Cut these false ties,
Cast aside these vain illusions,
Allow yourself such false comfort no more.
And so say sacred Scripture:
“Do not trust in a neighbor;
Do not have confidence in a friend.
Even from her who lies in your bosom
Guard your lips.” Micah 7:5
Or, as Christ warned:
“A man’s enemies will be found within one’s own household.”
Were the Prophets overwrought?
Were they paranoid to a fault?
Not trust even my dear wife?
They were quite right —for they too saw….
The stark loneliness of life.
“And Jesus stood alone.”
“No one stood with me,” said Paul.
“Each one shall stand before the judgement seat of Christ.”
There is but One
More trustworthy than the orbits of the planets
More reliable than your own heartbeat
There is but One
On whom you can cast all your care
Only One, God’s Only Son
JESUS
Call on Him and escape the stark loneliness of life
